One thing that I miss from my iPod Classic is the easy ability to pause with just one click. It is a very useful feature if you want to quickly pause when someone is trying to talk to you. Unfortunately, without this tip on the iTouch, you would need to hit the home button, then unluck the iTouch with a swipe and then you can pause it with a single touch.
Though not as elegant of a solution as with the iPod Classic, there is a simple solution, that while it takes three clicks, is much better than having to swipe the screen to unlock.
Here is what you need to do: Double click on the iTouch home button while it is locked to reveal the ability to pause without having to unlock. It’s still not an entirely ideal solution, since without tactile feedback you still have to guess where to touch, after hitting the home button twice, if the iTouch is in your pocket.

With my ipod, if I want to quickly pause I simply unplug the headphones from the ipod. This saves having to un-”hold” before clicking pause. (I keep it in hold mode since it’s usually in a pocket and I don’t like the volume or track changing by accident.) starting up again requires a bit more work – plugging in and then un-holding and clicking play – but usually that isn’t time sensitive.
